About Us
HI! I am Debbie Billa, an avid baker, candy maker and cake decorator. I am slowly turning my hobby into a quasi-business, designing and baking cakes for all occasions. My love for baking started when I was six, from sitting on the kitchen counter learning from my Mom. I remember baking mini cherry pies for my Dad; I couldn't have been more than 6 or 7. When I was in the 5th grade, my chocolate chip cookies won a huge third place ribbon at the Great Geauga County fair. Mom and friends would gather every Christmas to bake cookies, dozens and dozens of cookies. I've continued this tradition with my daughters, baking 15 different kinds every Christmas. Now I have a daughter-in-law and granddaughter to include in the tradition. Is it any wonder I've been hooked for almost forty years?
I'm married to my Tony, whom I married right out of high school. I am a mother of five, four who are grown, and one who is deceased.
I bake for Relay for Life in honor of my son, selling baked goods at work, in the community and at Relay events. This is my way of giving back for all who were there for us during our son’s battle with cancer. I am a key member of our Relay team, organizing events, cooking for food days and by participating; giving my time, money, efforts and tears to the cause.
Cakes, pies, cookies, doughnuts, breads, you name it, I bake it! In addition to baking, I make homemade candies; chocolates, hard candies and caramels.
Four weeks before my eldest son married, he asked if I'd make his cake. Never having made a wedding cake, I was more than reluctant to commit. I was his last resort. So bake and decorate I did and I rediscovered a love for cake decorating. I also discovered a NEW love for fondant and gum paste. And as they say, the rest is history! Now I have this wonderful site and lots of freinds and family to bake for.
